As for the Asian handicap, several betting sites offer another way to bet on football matches.
It is always best to understand the European handicap well before delving into the Asian handicap. The characteristics of this type of handicap can be summarized as follows:
- It uses decimal or fractional numbers.
- It does not allow betting on a draw.
- It contemplates the voiding of the bet.
- It can result in partial payments or losses.
1. The Whole Asian Handicap
Although we said that the Asian handicap uses decimal numbers, we can also find whole numbers among these bets.
However, you will find them written as decimals to differentiate them from the European handicap (e.g. 2.0 would be the Asian equivalent of a European handicap of 2).
However, unlike the European handicap, if the handicap ends in a draw, the bet will be considered void and the money will be returned to you.
To give an example, we can take a match between Real Madrid and Girona on a league date, this match has a clear advantage for the white team, so the most sensible thing to do is to find a way to create a handicap that generates a plausible disadvantage for Real in the final result.
So, taking the same guidelines as the European handicap, we can:
· Add goals to the weak team. If we think that the Madrid team is going to win by a difference of 2 goals, then we can apply a handicap of +3.0.
In that case, our bet will be a winner if Girona wins, draws or loses by a difference of up to 2 goals.
If the match ends in favor of the white team by a difference of 3 goals, the bet will be void and, finally, if Real Madrid wins by 4 goals or more, our bet will end up being a loser.
· Subtracting goals from the strong team. In the opposite case, we can affect the final score, but by subtracting goals from the Madrid team.
In this way, thinking about the same difference of 2 goals, we can make a -1.0 handicap against Madrid.
In this case, our bet will be a winner if Real wins by two or more goals, it will be void if it wins by a difference of 1 goal and it will be a loser if it draws or loses against Girona.
2. The Medium Asian Handicap

Another way to make Asian handicap bets is through a bet on the medium. In this case, the associated numbers will end in .5 and, in this way, void bets will be avoided, that is, the draw is a result that is taken off the table.
For example, if we have a Spanish classic, but we suspect that Barcelona can win the match due to the season they are having, then we can make a -0.5 handicap on the Catalan team where our bet will be a winner only if the Blaugrana scores three points.
Any other result results in a losing bet.
On the other hand, if we want to bet on Madrid, we can think that, although Barcelona will win, it will not do so by more than 1 goal.
Then, we can make a handicap of +1.5 in favor of Madrid where our bet will be a winner if Madrid wins, draws or loses by up to 1 goal.
It is worth clarifying that in some bookmakers, Asian handicaps of 0.5 are referred to as “half a goal” and the rest of handicaps ending in .5 as a half handicap, but both are equivalent.
3. The Mixed Asian Handicap
Finally, there is the possibility of making a type of mix between the average Asian handicap and the full handicap: the mixed or, also called, quarters.
This partly contemplates the tie of the bet, resulting in the partial payment of the bet or the partial loss depending on the case. A simple way to understand it is to imagine that two bets are made in one, exactly an average handicap and a full one.
In addition, the way to denote it is through the numbers ending in .25 or .75.
1. Bets ending in .25.

In this case, you would be betting on the mix between the immediately preceding full handicap and the average bet.
For example, if we bet +1.25 on Villarreal, we are indicating that the money entered for the bet is divided in two, the first half would go to a +1 handicap and the other to a +1.5 one.
In this way, the combinations associated with these predictions are the possibilities of winning.
That is, we will win the entire bet if Villarreal wins or draws, but if the yellow submarine were to lose by one goal, we would be given half of what we bet since half of the bet would be void (the part of the bet +1.0).
Worse still, if the yellow team were to lose by more than one goal, we would lose the entire amount bet.
2. Bets ending in .75.
On the other hand, if you bet on a handicap of +1.75, the bet would be divided into half for +1.5 and the other for +2.0.
Thus, the chances of winning would be a combination of the same.
Winning if the team wins, draws or loses by one goal.
Losing half if it is defeated by two goals and losing the entire bet if it ends up being below on the scoreboard by 3 or more goals.
